Cycling in the Lake District

Road cyclists and mountain bikers are spoilt for choice in the Lake District National Park. There are country lanes, permitted cycleways and bridleways with some fantastic views!

Around and about Bowness and Windermere there's a circular cycle route perfect for exploring the surrounding countryside.

Along the shore of Windermere to Hawkshead there's an exciting cycling route taking you across Lake Windermere on the car ferry, then cycling to up Hawkshead village and back; it's our most popular route!

Alternatively carry on along the beautiful lake shores of Windermere to Ambleside and back.

Get on the trail of Beatrix Potter and cross Lake Windermere on the car ferry, towards Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's former home. The beautiful northwest countryside awaits!

Grizedale Forest is a fantastic place for mountain biking, it's one of the main mountain biking areas in the country. The north face single track route gives experienced mountain bikers an adrenaline rush while the forest roads and bridleways have a range of safe, off-road routes for different abilities.

All routes are easily accessible from our front door!
