Terms & Conditions

The terms and conditions detailed below apply to all online bookings at www.burnsidehotel.com.

When you make a booking, your contract (which shall include these terms and conditions) will be with The Burnside Hotel & Parklands Country Club, Kendal Road, Bowness, Windermere, Cumbria, LA23 3EP (referred to in these terms and conditions as the 'Burnside Hotel').

All rates featured on the Burnside Hotel's Website are offered subject to availability and the Burnside Hotel reserves the right to refuse any booking for good reason.

Prices
All prices shown online are in £'s per room per night (unless otherwise stated) based on 1 or 2 adults sharing a twin or double room, or in the case of family rooms 1 or 2 adults sharing with 1 or 2 children up to to the age of 12; except for certain holiday periods where a minimum of 2, 3 or 4 night stays may apply. These rates apply to pre-booked leisure stays only.

All prices include Value Added Tax at the current prevailing rate (17.5%).

Prices are subject to change without notice. However, your price is guaranteed once you has received your confirmation number.

For the avoidance of doubt, your price does not include any incidental charges, which you may incur during your stay (including, by way of example only, in respect of your use of the hotel's bar and external telephone calls from your room). Such charges will be payable by you on your departure and, in the event that you fail to pay any such incidental charges, it is a condition of your contract with the Burnside Hotel that you irrevocably authorise the Burnside Hotel to debit your credit or debit card (see 'Deposits and Pre-payments' below) for the amount of any shortfall.

What the Price Includes
Website prices include twin or double bedrooms with colour TV, direct dial telephone, tea and coffee making faciliites and private en-suite bathroom.

The prices shown online are not valid in conjunction with any other offer and, until you have received your confirmation number, are subject to change without prior notice. References to midweek rates are for Sunday through to Thursday nights and weekend rates apply for Friday and Saturday nights.

Availability
All rooms and rates offered by the Burnside Hotel are subject to availability. Limited numbers of suitable rooms may be allocated to individual rates, packages or promotions and, when these allocations are taken up, remaining available rooms may be offered to the Customer at a higher price.

Upgraded Rooms
At the Burnside Hotel you can, on payment of a supplement, upgrade your accommodation to a suite, on a per room per night basis. Please ask for details.

Single Guests
Individual guests may book a double or twin room and pay a single occupancy supplement. At certain periods, the supplement may be equivalent to the rate charged for a second person's stay.

Children
Children age under 2 can stay free when sharing a room with 2 paying adults.

From March - October inclusive children aged 12 and under will be charged £30.00 per night bed and breakfast and £40.00 per night dinner bed and breakfast, when sharing a room with 2 paying adults, where a suitable room is available.

From November - February inclusive children aged 12 and under will be charged £10.00 per night bed and breakfast and £20.00 per night dinner bed and breakfast, when sharing a room with 2 paying adults, where a suitable room is available.

Children aged 13 to 17 years pay 75% of the adult tariff, when sharing a room with 2 paying adults.

Children on our Four Night Christmas Package are charged the following tariff -
7 to 14 years old £240.00
2 to 6 years old £130.00
Under 2 £30.00

Children on our Three Night New Year Package are charged the following tariff -
7 to 14 years old £199.00
2 to 6 years old £99.00
Under 2 £30.00

Children in their own room pay the adults tariff.

Baby Sitting
Baby sitting services are provided as a chargeable extra.Where baby sitting services are available, 7 days' advance notice of your baby sitting requirements is required by the hotel. For more information on availability and booking of our baby sitting services, please call the relevant hotel direct.

Guests with Mobility Difficulties
We have one specially adapted room for guests with mobility difficulties. The hotel has mainly level access to public areas and an accessible bathroom. Guests with mobility difficulties should contact the hotel direct for further information.

Dogs
We welcome dogs here at the Burnside Hotel on a nightly rate of £10.00 per dog per night. We request you keep your dog on a lead at all times and away from any eating areas. Guests are required to advise the hotel in advance if you wish to bring your dog so a dog friendly room can be allocated.

Car Parking
The Burnside Hotel has ample free car parking.

Checking In and Out
Rooms are available from 3.00pm on the day of arrival. Guests are requested to vacate their rooms by 11.00am on the day of departure. Guests are welcome to arrive earlier and use the hotel and leisure facilites while the bedroom is being prepared.

Meal Arrangements
Those rates which include breakfast offer a full English breakfast and/or continental breakfast with tea and coffee.

Those rates which include dinner offer a choice from the Burnside Hotel's four course table d'hôte menu plus coffee.

Leisure and Beauty
The Burnside Hotel offers full leaiure facilities including swimming pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, trimnasium, badminton and squash. A charge will be made for the use of certain facilities, such as solariam, badminton and squash court hire, equipment hire, exercise classes and beauty treatments. Please note pre-booking beauty treatments is essential.

Please be aware that children under 16 must be supervised by an adult, 18 years and over at all times in the pool. Swim nappies need to be worn by toddlers when using the pool. Children under 16 are not allowed in the lounge bar after 8pm.

Booking Information, Deposits and Pre-Payments
Our Reservations Team (08700 468640) is available to take your booking 7 days a week from 7.00am to 11.00pm.

If you make a booking through The Burnside Hotel's Reservations Team direct, you will be asked to pay a £80.00 deposit with a valid debit or credit card. When booking a 'Special Break' such as Easter, Christmas or New Year you will be asked to pay a £150.00 deposit with a valid debit or credit card.

Guests who pay their deposit by cheque on arrival will be asked to produce a valid debit or credit card for the hotel to take an imprint to enable you to charge to your room bill throughout your stay.

When booking online at www.burnsidehotel.com you will be asked to pay 100% of the value of the booking with a valid debit or credit card.

Payment
Settlement of the bill in full, less any advance payments must ne made prior to departure from the Hotel.

The Burnside Hotel accepts all major credit cards, including Maestro, MasterCard, Visa, JCB and American Express. Alternatively, payment can be made by personal cheque when accompanied by a valid cheque guarantee card, to the cards limit. Cheques cannot be pre-dated. Company cheques are not accepted. Credit facilites are not offered to private individuals

All credit card transactions, whether prepayment or on departure, will have a surcharge of 2% added to the total bill.

This charge DOES NOT apply to DEBIT card transactions.

When paying by credit card a minimum of a £20.00 spend is required.

Cancellations and Amendments
Cancellations and amendments for bookings made online can only be made by telephoning the hotel reservations team. When the booking is confirmed a reseration number will be supplied. This must be retained for access to the booking in the event of the need for cancellation and/or amendment.

No deposits are refundable.

All guests who make a reservation and pay an £80.00 deposit will be able to cancel 48 hours prior to arrival and use the £80.00 deposit to confirm a future reservation made within 6 months of the original cancellation date. If you cancel your reservation within 48 hours of arrival you will loose your deposit.

Deposits paid on 'Special Breaks' such as Easter, Christmas and New Year are non-refunable.

Guests who book online and pay 100% of the value of a booking will receive a refund of the difference
between £80 and the full price of the stay reserved. By way of an example only, should the total cost of your stay be £300.00 you would receive a £220.00 refund. The remaining £80.00 will be held by the Burnside Hotel for you to use to confirm a future reservation made within 6 months of the origional canncellation date. If you cancel your reservations within 48 hours of arrival you will loose your 100% payment.

In the event of cancellation of a Christmas and/or New Year Break for whatever reason the deposit paid is non-refundable. Subject to the accommodation being re-let no further charges will be made. In the event of the accommodation not being re-let 28 days prior to arrival then the total account is payable within 10 days.

Whilst every effort is made to fulfil any particular requests which you may have in relation to your stay with us, we cannot unfortunately guarantee that we will be able to meet any particular requests which you may make and our failure in this regard will not constitute a breach of contract.

In the unlikely event that we have to change or cancel your reservation, we reserve the right to do so. However, you have the right to:
accept the changed arrangements as notified; or
make alternative arrangements with the Burnside Hotel; or
cancel your reservation and receive a full refund of any monies which you have paid to the Burnside Hotel in respect of your reservation (please note that we shall not be liable for any sums which you have paid to any other persons in connection with your reservation).

For the avoidance of doubt, we shall have no further liability to you for any changes to or the cancellation of any online booking.

Insurance
We strongly recommend that you take our Holiday Insurance against cancellations. An insurance form can be obtained from the Burnside Hotel's Reservations Team

Behaviour
The Burnside Hotel reserves the right to judge acceptable levels of noise or behaviour of Customers, guests or representatives, who must take all steps for corrective action as requested by the Burnside Hotel. In the event of failure to comply with management requests, the Burnside Hotel may terminate the booking or stop any event immediately without being liable for any refund or compensation.

Descrimination
It is the policy of the hotel not to discriminate on the grounds of race, color, nationality, creed, sex, marital status, age, ethnic origin or disability. Clients, their employees, guests and all sub-contractors engaged by or on behalf of the Customer are expected to adhere to this policy and the Burnsie Hotel may, without incurring any liability to the Customer, remove from the Hotel any person or persons offending against this policy.

External Purchases
No wines, spirits, beers or food may be brought into the Burnside Hotel or Hotel grounds by Customers, their guests or representatives for cosumption or sale on the premises without express written consent of the Hotel and for which a charge may be made by the Burnside Hotel.

Complaints or Comments
Any complaint or comment regarding your stay at the Burnside Hotel should be made in the first instance to the hotel's duty manager at the time of your stay so that it can be resolved at the time.

Problems which cannot be resolved there and then should be notified in writing to The General Manager, The Burnside Hotel, Kendal Road, Bowness, Windermere, Cumbria, LA23 3EP.

General Information
Although every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the information contained online, we cannot accept responsibility for any errors or omissions, and reserve the right to vary, amend, supplement or cancel any of the information or offers featured online at any time.

The Burnside Hotel will not be responsible for any loss or damage which you may suffer arising out of events beyond our control or the control of its suppliers (including, without limitation, fire, failure of electrical, gas or other power supplies, strikes, industrial action, terrorist activity, technical problems with transport, illness of entertainers and bad weather), nor for any curtailment, cancellation or change to any accommodation, activity or itinerary or any other consequences which arise as a result of such events.

For the avoidance of doubt, nothing in these terms and conditions shall operate to attempt to exclude or limit the Company's liability for the death or personal injury of any person caused by the negligence of the Company or its employees, servants or agents or to attempt to exclude or limit the Company's liability in any manner which would be unlawful.

These terms and conditions shall be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which the hotel is situated.
